On Transcribing Jazz Solos

Transcribing solos as well as songs and orchestral parts constitutes a large part of my practice time, maybe 40%. I found it was a good way to improve my hear, sense of time and also for getting new musical ideas from the very best players.  These few videos reflect part of my work on my favorite solos. I have studied not only harmonica players but also guitarist( Django Reinhardt, Peter Bernstein, Kurt Rosenwinkel..) trumpet players (Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Louis Armstrong, Kenny Dorham…) saxophonist ( Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Lester Young, Joe Henderson…) and pianist ( Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, Brad Mehldau…).
